Many of which don’t require staining or sealing, having both a rich color and water-resistant nature, naturally. These hardwoods hail from India and Africa and are long lasting, luxurious woods in rich red and brown tones, complementing our Pacific NW homes!
Technology has given us new products as well, in the form of composite decking! Composed of wood and plastic, composite decking is made from both recycled and virgin materials. The wood particles can be anything from saw dust to wood chips and wood fiber pieces making use of material that otherwise would have been wasted. The plastic components are often recycled plastic material or small offshoot material that otherwise would have been waste. Making composite decking a good and sustainable choice for our Pacific NW! Since Composite decking is manufactured it comes in a huge array of colors, styles and sizes, to match any home and aesthetic! Furthermore, it resists weathering, doesn’t need staining or sealing and last a very long time keeping a fresh new look far longer than a traditional cedar deck.
PVC decking is another choice, made exclusively of Polyvinyl chloride (a type of plastic) with no organic material, PVC decking is engineered to avoid molding and rotting and often comes with as much as a 50-year manufacturer’s warranty! Like composite, PVC decking comes in a wide range of colors, style and sizes. Fencing our homes for privacy, aesthetics or to keep children and pets safe is a must do on our landscaping list.
